SNOW COVERED LICENSE PLATE

It is very important to keep your license plate clear of snow and/or dirt so it is readable to law enforcement.  All too often after a big snow dump, a license plate will be obscured by snow.  Remember, an officer will have Reasonable Suspicion to pull your vehicle over even if a few license number digits are not readable.  This also applies to bike racks.  If the rack covers the plate or does so partially, the police contact will be deemed reasonable and lawful by the Court.  If you have been driving during a snow storm or when there is a lot of wet snow on the ground that is kicking up and blocking your license plate, please be mindful to clear the snow off of your license plate.
