I haven't forgotten about my previous blog where I posted that I would reveal my most important tip to avoid getting a DUI in the first place. Before I get to that, let me ask you a simple question. What masks mouth odor the best? Do you think mouthwash is a good idea? What about Listerine strips? Would these most common methods of cleansing or refreshing the mouth work? These agents refresh the mouth only. If you have alcohol vapors coming into your oral cavity from your belly (remember the alcohol flavorings I was discussing earlier otherwise known as Congeners?) would mouthwash do the trick? The short answer is that it is better than nothing (I had a case many years ago where the client was picking up old Dorito chips off the floor to mask odor. Yes, that is completely disgusting and no, the stale chips on the floor didn't work, but you really have to give the hero credit for creativity) but no, mouthwash isn't going to get the job done either. Officers are on to this well-known "trick" and are watching for this decoy. So, what should you do? If the odor of alcohol is coming from the belly, it must be something you consume and not rinse with, right? Now, we are finally getting one step closer to solving the mystery and revealing the million dollar tip.
